Analysis of the Characteristics of PVC Wire Wrapping Film
PVC wire wrapping film has a wide range of applications. Its compact size and high adhesiveness make it convenient for wrapping wires, as well as ideal for consolidating and packaging loose items into complete units, replacing small storage boxes. Since it can reduce packaging costs for bulk cargo transportation by more than 30%, it is widely used in the consolidated packaging of various products, including hardware, minerals, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, and machinery. In the field of warehouse storage, overseas countries also increasingly rely on stretch wrapping film palletizing for three-dimensional storage and transportation, thereby saving space and land usage.
PVC wire wrapping film—a brand-new packaging material—features ultra-thin, strong, transparent, self-adhesive, and low-temperature-resistant properties. It is an ideal packaging material, particularly well-suited for wrapping chemicals, electronic components, construction materials, rubber products, low-grade bricks, tiles, screws, wallpaper, leather, fiberglass, non-woven fabrics, paper rolls, electrical wires, and steel wires. Its excellent adhesion ensures that the layers of the wrapping film stick firmly together, securely holding the packaged goods in place. There are two primary methods for achieving this adhesion: one involves adding PIB or its masterbatch directly into a polymer matrix; the other entails blending VLDPE with PIB to produce a semi-transparent, viscous liquid. When using the latter method, specialized equipment is required, or existing equipment must be modified accordingly. Typically, PIB masterbatches are preferred. The migration of PIB from the masterbatch takes time—usually about three days—and is also influenced by temperature: at higher temperatures, the adhesive strength is stronger, whereas at lower temperatures, the adhesion weakens considerably. Moreover, after stretching, the adhesive strength significantly diminishes. For this reason, it’s best to store the finished film within a specific temperature range (recommended storage temperature: 15°C to 25°C). Blending VLDPE results in slightly weaker adhesion, but this method places no special demands on equipment and offers relatively stable adhesion that is less affected by time. However, it is still sensitive to temperature: when the temperature exceeds 30°C, the adhesion becomes relatively stronger, while below 15°C, the adhesion tends to weaken somewhat. By adjusting the amount of LLDPE added to the adhesive layer, it’s possible to achieve the desired level of adhesion.
